Here is an essay on the ‘Iron Ore Deposits in India’ especially written for school and college students.

Essay on the Iron Ore Deposits in India

The large deposits of iron ore are mainly confined to the states of Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Goa. However relatively smaller yet important deposits are found in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan and Haryana.

In addition, we find small deposits of iron ores in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. However they are at present of no economic significance.

The iron ore occurrences are given in Table 3.1. It is important to summarize the age-wise (geo-chronological group) of the iron ore deposits of India.
